"Piston" operation in Diyarbakır: 6 arrests

Six suspects involved in robberies, assaults and shootings were arrested as part of Operation Piston" in Diyarbakır.

Teams from the Diyarbakır Police's Public Security Department and Motorcycle Unit carried out an operation codenamed "Piston" to detain people involved in robberies, attacks and shootings in the city. Six suspects were arrested during the operation.

The police discovered that the suspects arrested during the operation had rented vehicles with fake IDs and were able to locate three different vehicles based on their location information. During the searches, which were carried out with the authorisation of the public prosecutor's office, 5 unlicensed pistols and 2 pump-action shotguns were confiscated.

In the operation, which was carried out with the help of a digital archive created, a suspect wanted for 13 years for aggravated extortion and a suspect named C.Ö. were arrested. About 1 kilogramme of drugs was found in C.Ö.'s vehicle.

On the other hand, the Yunus police teams seized 45 unlicensed pistols within a month and arrested 76 wanted suspects and 98 people for drug-related offences. Of these suspects, 18 were arrested by the court.
